TraveLibro Turkey Kas Featured City Sunken City of Kekova

Sunken City of Kekova

During the first millennium, a series of earthquakes lead to submerging the entire city. Visit Kekova, a jewel of the Mediterranean, conceals the remains of this sunken city and sprawls across at 260 sq km. Get aboard a glass-bottom boat and examine the underwater stone ruins that are now inhabited by the marine life. Alternatively, kayaking trips are also organised by the tour operators in town. As this is an archeologically protected area, swimming is not permitted. However, halt at the Tersane Bay and indulge in swimming and snorkelling to get up close and personal with more sunken ruins.

TraveLibro Turkey Kas Featured City Saklikent Gorge

Saklikent Gorge

Saklikent Gorge is an 18 km long valley, the steep and narrow passage remains untouched by the sun’s rays completely. The flow of water, over a period of time, has delicately sculpted the soaring limestone canyon walls. Head out on a day trip to Fethiye to explore one of the deepest canyons of the world, by hiking the gorge or water rafting in its icy-cold water. About four km of the gorge is accessible by foot during the summer months when the snow from the Taurus Mountains has melted, creating a clear passage to walk on. Adventure seekers can also opt to join a guided canyoning tour here.

TraveLibro Turkey Kas Featured City Big Pebble Beach

Big Pebble Beach

Take a pleasant walk along the marina and the waterfront to reach Big Pebble Beach (Buyuk Cakil), located 1.3 km away from the town centre. As the name suggests, it is void of sand that’s found abundantly on other beaches; instead, it offers a rocky cove and is sprinkled with pebbles. Although its shingle bed deters those accessing the sea, its crystal clear waters are great for snorkelling and swimming. Sun beds and umbrellas that dot the beach are available on rent. It also has a few cafés; do enjoy a meal here.
