Then there’s also a gazebo with a circular bench, three bird baths, a centre column, and a spire reaching a height of 38 ft. TraveLibro United States of America Los Angeles Featured City Olvera Street

Olvera Street

Olvera Street is in the oldest part of downtown Los Angeles, dating back to the 1930s. Its narrow passages and 19th-century buildings housing traditional restaurants and folk art shops, pay ode to the city’s Mexican heritage. Admire landmark buildings such as Avila Adobe, the Pelanconi House, and the Sepulveda House. Olvera Street gets its quintessential character from the tree-shaded, pedestrian marketplace featuring craft shops, restaurants and roving troubadours. Take in the luscious aromas of the taquitos and tacos at the outdoor cafes, listen to the strolling mariachi music, and watch Mexican folkloric dancers. Explore the ‘El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument’ and an 1815 plaza, on a docent guided tour.

The 160-acre Runyon Canyon Park offers a quite oasis amongst its lush flora along with a magnificent view of the historical Griffith Observatory and the iconic Hollywood Sign. The urban wildlife setting offers trails that range in difficulty from a light-brisk walk to a rugged hiking adventure. Pick from three routes: the Fuller Gate - Runyon Canyon Road (easy), the Star Trail (medium), and the Hero Trail (difficult), each loops takes about 30–45 minutes. If you are lucky you may spot celebrities walk their dogs while you hike up to the highest point of the park. A note to remember: bikes are allowed only on road ways, not on the trails.
