TraveLibro India Pushkar Featured City Brahma Temple

Brahma Temple

Dedicated to Lord Brahma the ‘Creator of the Universe’, this temple’s inner sanctum holds the images of Brahma and his second wife Gayatri. According to the legend, during a holy ritual, Lord Brahma’s wife Savitri got delayed, which resulted in Brahma finding another wife to perform this ritual. When Savitri arrived she was enraged by this act and cursed Brahma that he would only be worshipped in Pushkar. Hence, it is considered to be the only temple of Brahma in the country. Said to be 2,000 years old, it is made of white marble. Its towering spire is adorned with motifs of a swan, the vehicle of Lord Brahma.
