Oia is a small town located on the island of Santorini with a population of around 4,000 people and is characterized by the painted blue cupolas, white washed walls and the windmills. The main street here is called Nikalaou Namikaou which is a cobble-stoned path that winds up all the way through the town. One of the most popular attractions here is viewing the sunset from the Sunset Serenade point.

Meterora Monasteries

The Meteora which means ‘suspended in the air’ or ‘in the heavens above’ is one of the largest and most important complexes in the Greek monasteries. It consists of six monasteries built of sandstone pillars and is located in central Greece, near Kalambaka and is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. These rock formations were formed about 60 million years ago and have shaped into what they are now by weathering and earthquakes.

Samariá Gorge in Crete

The Samaria Gorge is a National Park that exists on the island of Crete since 1962. It is a major attraction on the island and was created by an 18 km long river running between the White Mountains. The most famous part of this park is the stretch known as the ‘Gates’ that soars up to a height of approximately 980 feet. It has a village called Samaria, which along with the gorge has got their name from the ancient church Ossia Maria.

The Acropolis in Athens

The Acropolis of Athens is a huge complex and an ancient citadel located on a high rocky mountain above the city. It comprises of numerous ancient buildings of cultural and architectural importance. It is said to have been built in the 5th century BC and the most important of these buildings are the Parthenon, the Temple of Goddess Athena, the Propylaia and the Erechtheion. All the valuable artefacts from here are housed in the Acropolis Museum, which is located 280 meters away from the Acropolis.

Monasteries of Mount Athos

Mount Athos is a mountain situated in northern Greece and is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is home to 20 Eastern Orthodox monasteries and is renowned for it’s long monastic traditions and rituals that date back to almost 800 A.D. and the Byzantine era. Over 2,000 monks from Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia and Russia reside in these Monasteries. Women are prohibited to set foot on the sacred mountain.

Lindos on the Island of Rhodes

Lindos is a town and an archaeological site situated in the island of Rhodes. Its spectacular beaches makes Lindos a very popular tourist and holiday destination. Excavation that were held from 1900 – 1914, gave rise to many important and cultural sites and artefacts like the Ancient Greek theatre of Lindos, the Church of St. John, the Castle of Lindos, the Acropolis of Lindos, to name a few.

Temple of Apollo in Delphi

The Temple of Apollo is a temple dedicated to Apollo, the Roman and Greek God of music, poetry and the arts and is situated in the ancient town of Delphi, which is also an archaeological site. It was built on the ruins of a former temple and now itself lies in ruins as it was destroyed by the Roman Emperor Theodosius I in 390 A.D.

Villages of Halkidiki

The region of Halkidiki is home to many mountainous and seaside villages; with many of the coastal ones converted into lovely tourist resorts. Afytos is the most visited in the mountains while Kassandra is the most famous located on the leftmost peninsula. The villages that you can take your pick to visit are Afytos, Marmaras, Nea Phokea, Ormos Panagias, Porto Koufo, Nikti, Nea Skioni, Kassandra, Parthenonoas and Ouranoupolis.

Corfu is an island situated off the north western coast of Greece. It is the second largest of all the Ionian Islands and is related to two powerful water symbols i.e. Poseidon - God of the Seas and Asopos - an important Greek mainland river.
