MUST DO'S IN INDIA

Taj mahal

Taj Mahal

No tale of melancholy love was as soul stirring as is this spectacular build that is nothing short of poetry. Emperor Shah Jahan who built it as a memorial for his third wife, said it made 'the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes’. The first sight of it will take your breath away with ornamental gardens punctuated with watercourses, with Taj Mahal reflecting perfectly in them when the fountains aren’t working. Beyond lies the Taj Mahal with ornamental minarets on four sides and the blue sky as its backdrop. Made with semi translucent white marble with carved out flowers and embellished with precious stones, it’ll leave you dazed.

Jaipur

The pink city has the embodiments of the past looking over, probably amused, as the old and the new try to fit in- roads full of camels walking alongside buzzing traffic, is an example. The cameras wont stop clicking at the colourful bazaars and the flamboyant authenticity of the locals, but they’ll probably go berserk when they meet the City Palace, the Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and the majestic Amber Fort.

Udaipur

Encompassing hills and a stunning, shimmering lake, come together with the majesty of the man in form of temples, palaces, havelis, creating a magic that spellbinds you forever. The present however is struggling to maintain the charm of the past with tourist offices and high hotels, elbowing competitively, claiming to show you around. Step into its bazaars and the hustle suddenly claim authenticity, the arts scene touches your soul and a boat ride enchants you for life.

Beaches of Goa

Of course the palms, sand and waters are the prime attraction but there’s so much more to Goa. While you’re soaking up the sun and breeze, also dive into its character that has influences of colonial rule in its architecture and lip-smacking cuisine. Peel yourself off the beaches to explore the spice plantation, centuries old cathedrals and white-water waterfalls and you won’t be disappointed! Oh and of course the music lovers can go at the time of one of the biggest EDM fests- Sunburn.

Golden Temple

The Golden Temple is rich in its architectural style with a marble segment carved in pietra dura work, above which is the upper level encased in golden panels, topped with a 750kg gold dome. But the spiritual significance is richer, with a water tank surrounding the temple, called Amrit Sarovar that is known to have healing powers. The aura engulfs you deeper as you enter and the continuous chants seep every cell of your body. The intensity deepens with the historical tales showcased inside.
